Nothing can’t stop Ms. Aliya Everett showing love for her school, while representing as 116th Miss FAMU. “I do love my HBCU. I love meeting people… And telling people about FAMU.” Everett explained.
Everett Loves Her Orange and Green!
The fourth-year Broadcast Journalism Scholar from Blountstown, Florida loves Florida Agricultural and Mechanical University. The ”Highest of the Seven Hills” founded on October 3, 1887 (WHAT?!?) in Tallahassee, Florida (close to Florida State University). Like any other students from Historical Black Colleges and Universities, Everett loves advocating for her institution. As one of the student leaders on campus, Everett is captivated by the school’s history and its integrity of continuing “Excellence with Caring” for existing and upcoming undergraduate and graduate students.
Before transferring to FAMU, Everett earned her Associate in Science degree from Chipola College in Marianna, Florida. “I’m a first-generation student.” Said the 116th Miss FAMU. Overall, Everett’s foundation inspired her to attend the “Rattler’s Nest,” and its culture. “But, my heart wouldn’t give up FAMU. So really, I came [to] connect deeper to my roots, and really the culture is undeniable. You just gotta experience it.” Everett explained.
The former 2020-2021 Miss Transfer Student also makes time to join FAMU’s Chapter of SISTUHS Inc. and NCNW. Once she graduates with her bachelor’s degree in Spring 2023, Everett would like to work in either sports broadcasting or sports marketing. Last year, she experienced interning with ESPN during FAMU’s homecoming. “My ultimate goal is to work with ESPN,” said Everett.
