Mitchley (DJ Syri) St. Louis always work hard to make her dreams come true. Before anybody knew the 28-year-old Broward County native Disc Jockey and CEO of Serious Soundz Entertainment, LLC, performs in large crowds, her inspirations come from family. “The inspiration… come from being younger. My dad and grandma, they both had big systems in the house. I grew up with a lot of music,” said DJ Syri.
It all started from her Roots
Growing up within a Haitian household, DJ Syri took the initiative from her cultural and diverse musical background and was inspired to play music at a young age. She started a group called DJ Siri, and changed the spelling of her current name after discounting with a bandmate. Once DJ Syri started getting booked for clubs, parties, and events, she finally got her big break! In July 2021, DJ Syri was performing live alongside artist Skodi at Rolling Loud Miami. And they also performed this event in New York and California. “I am always thankful for Skodi in my life, and everything. And to give me the opportunity,” said DJ Syri.
DJ Syri has gone through several challenges as a Disc Jockey in a male-dominated industry. Overall, DJ Syri knows how to bring her musical skills to the table! “A guy looking like, ‘This pretty girl can do what I can do?’ Yes, she can [basically] exactly do what you can do,” said DJ Syri.
When it comes to kids, DJ Syri believes that they can be Disc Jockeys at a certain time in their life, and do it internationally like herself. “Be patient. Everything comes on its own time, and God’s timing,” said DJ Syri.
